In addition to an approximately two-acre Neon Museum campus, which includes the outdoor exhibition space known as the Neon Boneyard, the museum also encompasses a visitors’ center housed inside the former La Concha Motel.

The La Concha Motel opened in 1961 and closed in December 2003. It was designed by architect Paul Williams[4] who was one of the first prominent African American architects in the United States and was also the architect who designed the first LAX theme building. In late January 2006, the motel was demolished with only the standing motel lobby remaining. The owners of La Concha Motel wanted to donate it to the Las Vegas Neon Museum and it was moved to the current location, serving as the museum's visitor center.

In February 2013, the S.F. Planning Commission unanimously approved the theater owner’s plan to seismically retrofit the vacant, boarded-up building at 2055 Union St. and convert the interior into a gym run by Equinox Fitness. Part of that space will be used as a multi-purpose auditorium for film screenings, presentations and other neighborhood activities.
