A Sunny Christmas

BlueEyes5 posted a video:

This is the wind I have to fight when shooting all the time. Today was beautiful but awful windy.

Every year at Christmas time
There’s not a sign of snow.
Instead we spend our yuletide days
In the sun’s warm cheery glow.
We have the best of Christmas things
The lights, the gifts, the bells,
And “snowbirds” who arrive in mass
To fill our beach hotels.
The glorious weather fits right in
With our happy Christmas mood,
And we can also walk and run
Without having to be snow-shoed.
So don’t feel bad for your Southern friends,
Who have no snow or ice.
We think our sunny Christmas here,
Is a holiday paradise!

Sweet Potato Biscuits

Decided to break the pattern of butterflies and give you some food for thought. The wind is out of the north today and just the right weather for baking. Have tried a new recipe and it is really delicious.

Sweet Potato Biscuits
By: Paula Deen

Ingredients
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 heaping tablespoons sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup mashed cooked sweet potatoes
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) softened butter
2 to 4 tablespoons milk (depending on the moisture of the potatoes)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. In a separate, large bowl, mix the sweet potatoes and butter. Add the flour mixture to the potato mixture and mix to make a soft dough. Then add milk a tablespoon at a time to mixture and continue to cut in. Turn the dough out onto a floured board and toss lightly until the outside of the dough looks smooth. Roll the dough out to 1/2-inch thick and cut with a biscuit cutter. Place the biscuits on a greased pan and coat tops with melted butter. Bake for about 15 minutes. (Watch your oven: If the biscuits are browning too fast, lower the temperature.)

For reviewing what we treasure,
The people we hold dear,
Who give us so much pleasure.
Without you as my friend,
Life would be a bore;
Wishes for you all. I will be out for a few days

How do I begin to tell you how honored I am
To have you in my life?
I'll start by saying it was a dream come true
The day I became your wife.
You're my best friend in the good times
And my rock in times of sorrow.
You're the reason for sweet yesterdays
And my promise for tomorrow.
I never thought I could feel this loved
Until I became your wife.
You made this year and every other year
The best of my life.
I draw a circle, not a heart, around you
My husband, the one I love
Because a heart can break
But a circle goes on forever.

Love always,
HAPPY THANKSGIVING

I would like to take a moment to wish each and every one of you a Wonderful and Happy Thanksgiving.
May you have much fun, food and loving family. I will be out for the remainder of this week giving thanks for all the family I will be sharing it with. Hope you are doing the same.

Not Just A Day
As Thanksgiving Day rolls around,
It brings up some facts, I have found
We may think that we're poor,
Feel like bums and insecure,
But in truth, our riches abound.
We have friends and family we love;
We have guidance from God above.
We have so much more
Than they sell in a store,
We're wealthy, when push comes to shove.
“So add up your blessings“, I say;
Make Thanksgiving last more than a day.
Enjoy what you've got;
And share it a lot
And you'll have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day

“So add up your blessings“, I say;
Make Thanksgiving last more than a day.
Enjoy what you've got;
And share it a lot
And you'll have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day

This one is for Mustangaly.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

1 1/2 cups Cooking Oil
2 Eggs
2 cups Sugar
In a large bowl add first three ingredients and beat well.

Then add:
2 tsps Vanilla Flavoring

Combine the following dry ingredients and add to the liquids: Mix by hand until throughly mixed. Batter will be very thick.
3 cups All Purpose Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp. Pumpkin Pie Spice

Then Add:
3 cups chopped Fresh Pears
1 cup chopped Walnuts

Pour into a well greased Bundt pan sprinkled with flour. Bake 1 to 1 1/2 hours or when toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool in pan before removing cake. This is very important for it is a very moist cake.
I like to refrigerate mine in a covered cake plate. May be served with whipped cream if desired. Enjoy

Tractor pulling in the 70's let us see the biggest part of Texas. The tractor was the " Golddigger". The Golddigger was the first modified tractor to pull in the Astrodome in Houston, Texas. There were tractors from all over the United States. Vernon placed in the top ten. He was in the money. After going to two engines he had to lighten the load
of the tractor to get into the light weight class. He was the first one to do away with the radiator. He built a frame that was hollow to run the water through to cool the engine.
He had a Minneapolis Moline rear end with two Chrysler "Hemi" engines on it. One of the engines came from a race car and the other one came from Arkansas . It had just broken a world record in a speed boat. He didn't do to bad. He placed in every pull he made. The most he ever won was when he came home with two first places and one second. There were three weight classes on a week-end for modified tractors.

After about seven years of pulling he finally sold the "Digger" and decided he wanted to fly.
