not long after this Jean Luc who was doing some crazy dancing which included flapping his arms like a seagull,making dads proud throughout the land,ended up throwing himself into the Mersey to celebrate the success of the event.

Half-a-million people watch Sea Odyssey giant spectacular

SEA Odyssey giant spectacular's Little Girl Giant and Uncle Giant walked 23 miles and won hundreds of thousands of Liverpool hearts before sailing away down the River Mersey, mission completed.

Half-a-million people from Friday to Sunday - double the numbers expected - greeted them, fell in love with them, cheered when they marched down our streets, shed a tear when they finally reunited and waved them goodbye as they left Canning Dock and sailed past the Three Graces.

The giants wooed an entire city with their adventure in Liverpool's Sea Odyssey street theatre extravaganza, which took place from Friday to around 12.30pm today – the 30ft-tall Little Girl Giant searching for news of her father lost on the Titanic with the help of her mischievous Mexican dog Xolo; her 50ft Uncle with his enormous boots and goldfish bowl diver's helmet.

They awoke this morning at King's Dock, where they had finally reunited after 100 years – their hug drawing a deep sigh from the watching thousands.

The Lilliputians, who operated the giants, pulled open the door of a an enormous mail box, marked “White Star Line”, and retrieved the letter the Little Girl's father had promised to write to her when stowing away on the Titanic.

Artistic director Jean-Luc Courcoult, of French marionette company Royal de Luxe, read aloud the lost giant's words, which assured his daughter he was comfortable despite having no portholes through which to view the ocean.

In celebration of hearing the letter she had been waiting to read for more than a century, she danced high in the air, as the Lilliputians pulled ropes attached to her arms and legs.

Then French company Royal de Luxe's fantastical creations paraded along The Strand, where a giant pair of cymbals clashed together and a huge cannon fired letters and postcards into the crowd of thousands lining the route.

Written by local people, imagining they were on board the Titanic, they formed part of the community involvement element of Sea Odyssey.

The giants waved goodbye to the Three Graces, passing the stripy White Star Line Building of Titanic's owners in a poignant reminder of the reason for this commemoration.

At Canning Dock, they were craned on to the boat James Jackson Grundy and, in a cloud of smoke, sailed out into the Mersey and into the distance.

GIANT SPECTACULAR
In April, the world's greatest street theatre company, Royal De Luxe, will bring their Little Girl Giant to Liverpool in one of the UK's most spectacular events. Sea Odyssey is a magical tale of love, loss and reunion played out on a gigantic scale. It will take place in key city spaces, moving across North Liverpool and the city centre, wowing the hundreds of thousands of people who are expected to descend on the city over the three days.

The show will take place from April 20-22 and is one of the most complex events Liverpool City Council has ever staged, involving hundreds of people in its planning and execution.
