The Shanghai Center (上海中心) will be the tallest building in Shanghai (projected 632.0 m) once construction is completed in 2014. It will then also be the World's first group of three supertalls together. The Shanghai Center is designed by the American architectural firm Gensler.

The SWFC (上海环球金融中心) is currently the tallest building in Shanghai. Located at Century Avenue in Pudong. Construction completed in 2008. Roof height 492 m, top floor at 474 m. Observation deck at 472 m.

In the right background the the (incl. spire) 420 m tall Jin Mao Tower (金茂大厦).

The Pearl of the Orient TV Tower (东方明珠电视塔) - short also known as "Pearl Tower" or in Chinese 东方明珠塔. This is the modern landmark of Shanghai. Over three million visitors per year. Tallest tower in Asia, third tallest in the World. Height is 468 m.

This is the new 2IFC Tower. The tower is part of the Shanghai IFC twin tower complex. The new HSBC Tower,also known as 1IFC, can be seen just behind it. The former HSBC Tower is now occupied by the Hang Seng Bank.

The Jin Mao Tower (金茂大厦), once Shanghai's tallest, is currently the second tallest building in Shanghai. Soon to become just number 3 - after construction of the new Shanghai Center has finished.

Shanghai - IFC

The twin towers of the IFC complex (国金中心) in Shanghai Pudong's Lujiazui Financial District. Left is 2IFC, the right tower is the new HSBC Tower (the former HSBC Tower is now occupied by the Hang Seng Bank).

The HSBC Tower was finished first. The lower parts are occupied by the IFC Mall - and the underground Apple store. The "IFC" name and the style of the letters are same as Hong Kong's IFC - because it's the same Hong Kong based investor.

In the central background the new Shanghai Center can be seen.

The buildings in the photo are Shanghai's tallest - all three of them, even if the future tallest "Shanghai Tower" aka "Shanghai Center" aka 上海中心 is still under construction.

After completion in 2014 the Shanghai Center will be the tallest building in China and the second-tallest in the world, surpassed only by the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The Shanghai Center is designed by the American architectural firm Gensler. For those interested in the progress, here is a photo taken about 6 months earlier, same location.

That's a night shot of the current top, the tips of the crane jibs appear to already reach the height of the neighbouring Jin Mao Tower (421m).

Shimao International Plaza (世茂国际广场) is a 333m tall (spires) skyscraper located at 819 Nanjing Road East. The functional roof height is 246m (60 floors). It's a mixed use building, featuring a shopping mall, office floors and a hotel (Le Royal Méridien). See where this picture was taken. [?]
