Win Hill View

James G Photography posted a photo:

An arduous climb to the summit of Win Hill last saturday, only to have forgot my coat and it was a bit nippy and windy up there.

Not to worry though, wanted to get some images for the little photographed location of Win Hill, more often than not you take pictures of it from afar.
Ladybower

James G Photography posted a photo:

It's not often I will stick around after direct light ends. However on this evening I could see in the distance over Stanage Edge the sky was lighting up and I figured it would pass to me as the sun sun lower behind the hills.

I was right and the sky started to light up a treat, fortunately for once I was near water (Ladybower) which gives that crucial reflection of colour when direct light isn't falling.

This shot is taken from Derwent Edge looking down to Ladybower. To be honest, I've always wanted one of these reflective "lake" shots from up on the hills :)
Lose Hill and Win Hill Sunset

After being stood on Carl Walk not looking hopeful for a changeable weather sunset as it was hammering it down, the cloud broke up the tinest little bit in the distance creating a thin layer where the light of the sun could pass through filtering down the valleys around Win Hill, Lose Hill and Bamford Edge. Quickly had to change to my telephoto while in the rain, at the same time being thankful I had a mate with me to hold all my stuff upside down as to not get the lenses wet rather than packing everything away to keep it dry and missing the shot.
Win Hill

James G Photography posted a photo:

It's not often I will stick around after direct light ends. However on this evening I could see in the distance over Stanage Edge the sky was lighting up and I figured it would pass to me as the sun sun lower behind the hills.

I was right and the sky started to light up a treat, fortunately for once I was near water (Ladybower) which gives that crucial reflection of colour when direct light isn't falling.

This shot is taken from Derwent Edge looking down to Ladybower and Ashopton Bridge with Win Hill in the distance and Lose Hill just recognisable to the right.
Mam Tor and Win Hill

James G Photography posted a photo:

I'm not so sure on this image. I do however quite like the concept I was thinking at the time.

Stood on Bamford Edge waiting for some light to appear on the foreground I concentrated my efforts on Win Hill and Mam Tor a little further away while light was dashing across them.

At first only Mam Tor would light up, then this cloud moved in which I thought really replicated Win Hill, the trouble was the top of Win Hill wasn't lit up like the cloud so a waiting game occurred and this is the best light I could get on Win Hill.
Bamford Edge

James G Photography posted a photo:

Well, Bamford Edge. Such a lot of hard work!

My initial plan was to go to Winnats Pass for sunrise and get some great light on the cliff's with a huge drop in the snow to the road below while Mam Tor caught some light beyond. Alas we arrived and the road had arrived due to a "Police Accident".

Rather annoyed and not fancying a trek up from the bottom in the snow at that time in morning just to miss the light I was glad to have set off half hour earlier for any eventualities so I went to meet Chris Charlesworth over on Bamford Edge having previously declined his offer to meet there and choosing Winnats instead.

I knew it'd be a hard location for sunrise with the sun rising behind and the classic Ladybower shot just wasn't doable due to shadows then the light finally hit the rocks.

So this shot is looking over towards Win Hill and Mam Tor with the rocks in the foreground catching some nice light when it did eventually come.
