The Lizard

National Library of Ireland on The Commons posted a photo:

Great group shot of intending passengers and some crew aboard the Lizard, probably along the quays in Waterford. Believe that the commanding officer may have been called something like Captain Reth, but couldn't swear to it...

I'm taking a trip too, but will be back in action at the start of June! It'd be lovely to come back and find complete info on the ship; full family and career history on the Captain; all manner of gossip (however wild) about relationships between the passengers. Oh, and an exact date too, of course! Demanding, Moi? :)

Philip Ward has contributed some great info:
"The Lizard 1176 gross tons built by The Clyde Shipping Co. and launched in 1895. Sold to Turkey in 1925 and renamed Chanak-Kaleh.Scrapped in 1959."

Date: 1896?
