Ravello rises three hundred meters above the Mediterranean Sea, along the Amalfi Coast. Writer and Nobel laureate André Gide described Ravello as "nearer the sky than the sea”, and D. H. Lawrence penned Lady Chatterley’s Lover here. When the sea blends seamlessly into the sky, as it does here, this "dreamers lair" at Villa Rufolo offers an engulfing sense of dell'infinito. Bellissimo!

Port of Galilee

Is it a twofer? A diptych? I don't know, but it shows the port of Galilee on the South coast of Rhode Island in mid-May, with the ferry to Block Island heading out to sea and Block Island on the horizon. The air is warm enough to tempt the brave, the inexperienced, or the foolish into the water, but I think it's better weather for kite flying.

The top image is a pseudo-HDR (HSS!), the bottom is the real thing, with minimal processing.

HSS! The warm sun and cool fog battled it out along the coastline, but for the opportunistic few, it was a nice beach day.
