I saw this bench at Gig Harbor a couple of weeks ago. A year ago I started doing Bench Mondays, but was always borrowing feet to stand on the bench. I love lonely benches! This is a lonely bench with a heart... a place to rest and as to say 'don't give up, because you are loved'.... When your heart is heavy, I will lift it for you.

“Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain”
~Author Unknown

It was raining and hailing when I went to take this fence shot, so I stayed in my car and took it through the windshield. The rain was coming down so hard that it distorted the fence. But the funny part was what it did to the car and the truck.

I think the quote was from an unknown author who has four seasons of rain. ;-)

I love the charm of Port Townsend! Last September I took the ferry over to the Olympic Penninsula to take some photos for a friend and it was the most amazing day. The sky was blue and the sun was shining. It was a perfect day and I did not want to leave this beautiful area. Again, the warm winds are blowing from the south and soon I long for sunny days to return to this place that I love.

Down town Bellevue was having a Celebration/Snowflake Lane until January 1st. The fences were decorated with lights! There were toy soldiers and dancing bears on the sidewalks passing out party horns to the little children and some big kids too. It was so festive there and so fun!

You don’t have the power to make rainbows or waterfalls, sunsets or roses, but you do have the power to bless people by your words and smiles and your sincere interest in them. Think of it—you carry within you the power to make the world better for someone each day!
~Sharon G. Larsen

Back at the beginning of November when my brother was here for a visit it had been raining all week and I knew that there would be an abundant amount of water coming down out of the mountains. It was hard to take any photos of the falls because of the mist coming up from the impact of the water. After cropping the photos that I did take, I was pleasantly surprised to see what effects the mist had on my photo. It almost gave it a look like I had textured it or even gave it some impressionism.... but nature did all the editing here except for the cropping.

Powerful Snoqualmie Falls

We are now into our rainy days that the Pacific Northwest is known for and I will be lucky to get out with my camera without getting wet!

"Meep, Meep" This time I (Wile E. Coyote) am driving and I get one of many calls from my brother and the boys asking, "Soooo, where are you?", but this time it was an instant "You have got to get your camera out!". He was ahead of us and saw these "Painted Cliffs" and I was not there yet, so we kept saying where... little did we know that the moving truck made no pit stops and was one hour ahead of us. The view when we came up over the hill and saw the afternoon sun on these cliffs was like a light show. This photo doesn't even become close to what the eye can see. How beautifully they are at the boarder of Arizona and New Mexico. There is a stop near this site to rest with a real cowboy shoot out and other tourist things to do, but it was a very hot day! To say the least we all were "shot and bothered" and just wanted to get to Albuquerque, New Mexico where we stopped for the night.

Now a funny road trip story from the "Heat" of my heart...
One place we stopped to get gas and I noticed a stain on my t-shirt. I couldn't figure out where the dirt came from until my brother said... you have it on your face too. He wipped off some with his finger and took a smell... "Chocolate!" I said No, I have not had any chocolate. "Oh sure... you have a secret stash" was his response. When he said that I had it all round my eye, my mind flashed back to the compartment in the car where I had put my sun glasses and before I left on the trip...... some chocolate. When I opened the compartment, the chocolate had melted all over my registration and insurance.... and where my sunglasses were before I had put them on. We had quite a good laugh as I stood there with chocolate all over my face and clothes. *Moral of the story.... put all your personal papers in a plastic bag and don't put chocolate in the same place. I got most of it wiped up, but decided to just leave it for our freezing temperatures in Washington and just chip it off.

Get Your Kicks On Route 66

This is our first day after leaving California heading down interstate 40 which parallels with the famous Route 66. The girls and the dog rode in my car and the boys rode in the moving truck (macho thing to do). The truck was so far ahead of us that when I saw this amazing view I did one of my last minute freeway exits! "Hang on everyone.... I had to have at least one photo that was not a drive-by shot". This is the entry to Joshua Tree National Park en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joshua_Tree_National_Park
The mountains were so diverse in colour all around us from tan, brown and black. A lot of climbers go there to do rock climbing and the area is rich with desert flowers and wildlife. Not that we saw a lot because we had to now play catch up to the truck, who by then was in Arizona. And.... by the way... just as we had crossed into Arizona I had said, "Wow, if a State Policeman is late for work here, I bet he gets this lonely highway", we got pulled over for going 97mph (156.10 kph). No, not me, but it was one of the friendliest officers that I have ever seen. Still got a ticket, even after the dog gave him a kiss on his hand and made him jump back 2 feet (60.96cm). Have you heard of the movie "Cars"? What great training we had behind the wheel during our video game before the trip. Needless to say, I nicknamed the ticketed person "Roadrunner".
Besides the heat starting to get over 100F (37.77777777777778C), I would say that the state of Arizona was amazing! The sad thing is that we were not far from the Grand Canyon and we had no time to get off the main road. But we did stop in Flagstaff and I forgot to get any photos of this wonderful city in the mountains. I was too distracted of catching up with the truck and ran out of time before nightfall.

After waiting all night for the clouds to part at Ocean Shores, WA, USA I got to see this special event of the Super Moon penetrating the darkness of night. It ended up being a marvelous night for a moon dance. According to NASA the largest Super Moon would be seen earlier in the evening during the moon rise, but as you can see the clouds got in my way.
"While the close proximity off the moon does increase the its gravitational effects on the oceans to bring about “perigeean tides,” or tides that have a greater range between high and low, the changes are relatively small — about 6 inches more than normal. "~ (NASA).
I can tell you that the waves at the Pacific Ocean were a little larger, but beautiful and none treatening. I was awake and so excited to see this wonder from 4am to 7am. and it was worth every minute of beauty sleep that I missed.

"In the state of Washington, under a near constant cover of clouds and rain, there is a small town named Forks. Population: 3,120 people.

This past week I took a friend and brother to the Olympic Peninsula to see the rain forest. On the way there we stopped in Forks to have lunch and to see Bella's Truck from the movie Twilight. I have not read any of the books and only saw the first movie. Just as giving my photos a lot of HDR is not my personality, either am I fan of either Team Edward or Team Jacob however I did find the whole scene facinating and this truck was very cool. The average rainfall here is 112 inches a year making a lot of moss and reflections.
