This is the first photo taken with my new Holga camera. The only processing was to darken the highlights a little. The camera worked great but the quality of the scan is not so good. This is the same store in the photo before the last. Franklin County, North Carolina.

The camera was a gift from a friend.

This is one of the houses Tim an I photographed when we were in Halifax County. I've always liked this old place but it's often overshadowed by the crazy house next door.

The c.1760 Owens House is at the right and the other building is the old Masonic Lodge Probably built in the 1820's.

Saturday I took Tim (TMSurrattPhotography) around Halifax County to see some of the old places in the area. We started in the town of Halifax where a number of old houses are located. We later went out in the country to see some old abandoned houses. We didn't get to see everything in the county and it was a very windy day but still had a good time.
This is Eagle Tavern located in the town of Halifax. It was built in the 1790's.
A banquet was held here for Lafayette Feb 27, 1825.

Built in the early 1800's for Dr. John R Bellamy. Their is a two story back section that may be on older house. This house was abandoned and neglected in the 1980's when it was moved about 1/4 mile to the campus of NC Wesleyan College and restored. I think it is now used for offices.

I thought they may have some lights on this house at night but I was wrong so I ended up taking a 15 second exposure.
It was still snowing a little but that didnt show up.

Webbs Mill, built between 1907 and 1909 on the Tar river in Nash County, North Carolina. It was still operating in the 1980's. This mill replaced an earlier antebellum mill. The water level should be at the top of the stone dam at the right.

Across the Tar

This bridge was built in 1921 and spans the Tar River in Nash County NC. You can see Webb's Mill down the river. The water is very low. Where I was standing should have been several feet under water. Just as a side note after Hurricane Floyd in 1999 the river was 24 feet above flood stage. It was probably close to the bridge.

I got here a little late and the sun was already going down. I stayed for about an hour and took this as it was getting dark. I almost posted a non-textured photo instead of this one. There was not much water going over the dam but it was better than the last time I was there.

Stonewall Manor at Night

This house was built about 1830 or a little earlier, for Bennett Bunn in Nash County, NC. It sat vacant for many years in the early 20th century. It's a wonder that the elaborate interior is still intact. The house is now a museum, open on a limited basis. As a side note the Greek Revival front portico is a 20'th century replacement of the original Federal era two tier porch.

I wanted to get some Christmas photos but I couldent find any old abandoned houses that were decorated so this will have to do. Merry Christmas everybody!!
