Interestingly this was constructed in 1927 for the Club Florentine. The details are remarkable.

Birmingham, AL Loveman's Department Store

Loveman's was a department store in Birmingham, AL that began in 1887. A large new store was constructed on this corner in 1890. It burned down in 1934. This art deco masterpiece was constructed on the same site in 1935. Loveman's declared bankruptcy in 1979 and closed in 1980.

Loveman's was adaptively reused into the McWane Science Center in 1998.

The historic districts in downtown Birmingham are a bit confusing so I'm just going to combine both and all of the different boundary increases. In the Downtown Birmingham Retail and Theatre Historic District #89000315 and also in the Downtown Birmingham Historic District #82002039.

Loveman's is on the National Register #83002971.

Pizitz was founded in 1899. It was bought out by McRae's in 1986 and the flagship closed in 1988. McRae's was eventually bought out by Belk.
