The Haven

I took this photo while I was waiting for my all day breakfast in the aptly named Haven cafe. If you're in the Newhaven area I can highly recommend popping in to The Haven for a bite to eat.

There were other customers in at the time but it was just lucky for me they were all out of shot. I didn't use my tripod for this shot but I did make good use of the table.

Very slight reworking of this image for exhibition. I've taken a bit of a lighter touch with the reworking and just brightened things up a little.

This is a reworking of a previous image I uploaded. I decided to rework it for my exhibition as I thought there were a couple of elements that could have done with a bit of sprucing up.

I've tried photographing this spot a few times but this is the first time I've been reasonably happy with what I've taken.

The name of the Close is Great Michael Close but I didn't like that as a title hence Newhaven Close.

I've wanted to photograph a sunset at Newhaven Harbour at low tide for ages now and finally got my chance this evening. It's left me with a real dilemma though as I've ended up with three different shots and I like all of them! I decided to go with this picture first as I thought it was the most cinematic of the three but I'll upload the others at some point.

Okay so I said I wasn't going to upload any more of these after Lighthouse sunset HDR but I thought the sun peaking out behind the lighhouse was pretty cool and worth sharing, oh and I like the lens flare too.

Incidentally I used the tone compressor method of tone mapping for this one as it seemed to work a little better than the details enhancer method.

Taken on the same evening as Newhaven HDR this was about 25 minutes later after the sun had set a little more. There's more from this series to come but I don't want to flood my stream with pictures of this lighthouse!

Well here it is, my very first proper HDR! I'd like to dedicate this photo to /\ltus and Stuck in Customs who have inspired me to try out HDR for myself - thanks guys, I owe you one! Special thanks to Trey (Stuck in Customs) for his discount code - cheers dude! Incidentally if you want to see how HDR is really done I strongly recommend you check out these guys photostreams, I promise you you won't be disappointed :-)

There I think that's more than enough shameless fawning, on with the business of creating some cool images.
