These are the hot springs of Sandhólshver in Hveragerði. I have given up de-saturating images for the sake of credulity: this is quite the way the place looked like at the time of the sunset.

The photographer is included in the frame, so that the picture can be "understood"

That's what the woman said to her husband when she went shopping. "Wait in the car, it will only take a while" and this apparently explains the present condition of the vehicle. The man's carcass is of course inside - stayed tuned, I've got shots of that (ok, I'm joking...)

Geothermal clean energy. I found that place to be really interesting - I could hardly leave. I have lots of frames taken there from so many different angles. That was a fun-shooting place :)

The hot springs in this land are considered to have the second highest flow rate in the country. The energy produced is used to heat residences, greenhouses and summer houses.

Lift a hand (well...) those who've ever had coffee like this (or chocolate).

Both pictures are taken from the same spot. The second one just turning 90° to my right.

Árbæjarsafn is the historical museum of the city of Reykjavík as well as an open air museum and a regional museum. The living environment of past generations is re-created in an authentic manner.

The Westman Islands archipelago enjoys stillness after the catastrophic eruption in 1973 that buried the city under tons and tons of ashes, just like Pompeii of old. All inhabitants (some 5,200) were able to escape in the fishing fleet. 4,000 of them were evacuated the same night the eruption started.

It's 40 years ago now.

My second image published from a full frame sensor. Combined with the Samyang at its best aperture, the resolution outcome is quite impressive. Fishing boat in downtown Reykjavik harbor, with some snow on the pavement.

Playing with the double meaning of the word "fan" in the title. Thanks to one of you who commented on this picture, and informed me that this is a fan that can be attached to a tractor in the wintertime, and blow the snow away from roads. I thought it was some agricultural stuff, hahaha. This shot contains the three primary colors of light: red, green and blue (RGB)

Some impressive landscape just by the road. Since the weather has been quite warm for February, the soil you can see on this picture was more than soft. Taking this image requested some very weird positioning oneself at a very low angle, stepping strictly on the stones, not on the mud.

For that sake, whoever it was that invented articulated screens on cameras made a great development.

I can't remember my aperture settings for this shot. But I am pretty sure that I was checking the extents of hyperfocal focusing with a large aperture.

Did you know? Most aurora borealis occur between 90 and 130 km above our heads. The Northern and Southern Lights dance simultaneously and are almost mirror images of each other.

The way the aurora works is a lot like a neon sign, except that in the aurora, the conducting gas is in the upper layer of the atmosphere, instead of a glass tube, and the current circulates along magnetic field lines instead of copper wires.

New moon, but with a snowy landscape, and -7°C as far as I remember. The northern lights had not been dancing in the sky for a few weeks, which is quite unusual. We finally got some solar activity and clear skies. The shot is some sort of vertorama.

How are the northern lights formed? The aurora borealis are created when charged particles are flung off the surface of the sun, travel to Earth, and get funneled down to the poles along magnetic field lines. The particles collide with molecules in our atmosphere, transferring energy and making the air molecules glow like a neon sign.

Not the biggest of the fireworks that night, but this is the shot that personally I like the most. I like the framing provided by the trees, the silhouettes, and quite particularly, the red reflection on one of the tree trunks. Hope you guys like it too :)

For a certainty I prefer portrait-framed shots in a ratio other than 2:3, and that's the reason for the black canvas. The shot is taken downtown Reykjavik.
