This image has kept my post-processing going on for months, until I was fully satisfied with the outcome. One many photographers today would have been painters in long gone times.

Jökulsárlón (Glacial Lagoon) in the Vatnajökull National Park. It is very, very, very deep, some 200 m down. So these are literaly "the tips of the icebergs". Also, at 200 m deep ... you wouldn't fish up your watch there - or your camera - if you drop it in the water.

I must tell you the funniest thing happened while I was shooting these ice pieces.

I got my tripod in place, found the right focus, got the filter on, practiced a little with manual settings... got it all right and started real shooting... and then a toddler walks into my scene in the middle of the exposure, and decides that that particular ice piece was the one he wanted to play with, so it took it away !!!! Believe it !!!

He stole my subject and walked away with it !!!

So that's how I found THIS piece - I just had to get myself another toy for myself :)

Last time I saw this place, just over a week ago, it was all flat with snow. (Note: this image here was taken in late September). But two weeks ago, you could not see one rock. Now take a look at the picture prior to this one. Both are taken in just about the same location.

The Glacial Lagoon of Jökulsárlón is a wonder to see. It is a very young landmark - it started to form in the early twenties and is getting bigger every year.

The icebergs sail slowly towards the ocean which is only a kilometer away.
