I've been stupidly ill for the past 3 days which is annoying as I've also been on vacation for the past 3 days. [Insert joke about software developer needing to schedule the influenza three weeks ahead of time.] I had plans to go exploring but my vacation has been spent on the couch for the most part. Its possible I just really need 5 days of doing not much of anything.

On the upside an OTC drug and upper respiratory infection haze was the perfect state of mind to spend 15 hours organizing my 48,000 photos from 2003 - Present into coherent folders using Adobe Bridge. Its difficult to concentrate so mindless sorting and labeling is actually engaging.

Long Dock, Beacon

The Long Dock is the proposed development site for a large scale waterfront redevelopment effort. The planning appears to have been done and the zoning approved (I think) but it seems that the project is just a few million away from actually breaking ground. As the project involves a hotel, conference center, multiple docks, and moving a barn I'm not sanguine about the chances of seeing it break ground anytime soon.

While development may be a long way off, the pleasant open space and tree lined shoreline are a great improvement over the vile, tar soaked industrial wasteland that the waterfront used to be.

This is following 12+ hours of heavy snowfall in the Hudson Valley which knocked out power to 250,000 people, including myself. My power was knocked out Thursday night and was only restored Saturday around noon. As everything in my apartment, including the heat is electric this was... unpleasant.
