I took this shot so I could have a better-quality, non-camphone version of this one. (I still don't see how an inspection can be "voluntary" if "all articles" are subject to it.)

About half a second after I clicked the shutter, one of the people working there yelled at me, telling me that I couldn't take photos there. I said "Really? It's against the law? I'm not taking pictures of a security checkpoint." She kept yelling, saying that I was breaking the law. I'd gotten my picture, so I ignored her, went through the turnstile, and walked away toward the A train.

Oddly enough, this was the Howard Beach/JFK Airtrain stop, where you leave the Airtrain through a turnstile, walk about ten feet through a no-mans-land, and enter the subway system at another turnstile. I was on the Airtrain side of the station, and I don't know the PAPD's photo rules there. I assume I could have taken this picture from the subway side of the room and been in the clear, since the MTA doesn't prohibit photography.

The new JetBlue terminal is being built behind the old TWA Flight Center (Terminal Five.) The famous "tubes" -- the corridors from the entrance terminal to the gates -- are being preserved and incorporated into the new design, though the original satellite gate areas have been demolished.

Outside Sin Sin on Second Ave and 5th St...where a guy, presumably an employee, wondered about my photography:

"Can I help you?"
"No, thanks."
"What are you doing?"
"Taking pictures."
"For what?"
"For me."
"For you?"
"Yep, just for myself."

He then hovered about two feet away from me until I finished my picture-taking and went on my merry way. He wasn't hostile or even unfriendly, but something about my taking pictures on the sidewalk obviously set off his radar.
