From this morning's visit to South Coast Botanic Garden, a macro view of the petals of a pure red ranunculus. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/11, 1/125 sec., ISO 250, morning sun, handheld)

Tender ranunculus bud

The first few ranunculus buds point to many weeks ahead to enjoy beautiful, colorful blooms! This bud was very small (approximately 1 inch/25 mm in diameter), so I used an extension ring to get a larger image and more detail. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro + EX-25 Extender, f/16, 1/100 sec., ISO 1000, open shade, handheld) I used two texture layers: "OldMaster" from Leslie Nicole's French Kiss Textures and "You'd be surprised" from Jerry Jones' Shadowhouse Creations.
