April in The Valley

Spring has sprung in Yosemite Valley, but it's not quite in full swing yet... most of the meadows are still brown mixed with new green, and many of the trees have not yet begun to grow new leaves... nonetheless, it's beginning to brighten up- and that makes me excited for summer! Can't wait for Tioga Pass to reopen...

Yosemite under a full moon, as seen from Tunnel View... this was my first ever attempt at star trails... wasn't patient enough to wait long enough for really good ones- in my defense, I shot this series at around 2:30-3am... I was about to pass out if I stayed much longer... fun stuff though- I'll be trying it again sometime soon!

It was a pretty epic day in Yosemite... what started as rain the day before continued throughout the night and changed to snow the next morning. It snowed all day- and I mean, it seriously snowed- at times, it was blizzard-like, with huge flakes blanketing the whole valley. By about 6:00pm, or a little after, the storm started to clear... I stopped at a couple spots in the valley for some shots, then decided to cruise up to Tunnel View to see if any sun would shine through...

It did...

been experimenting with new methods of processing... this is the color version of the last shot I posted.

this is a single shot- no HDR, and no blending with any other image... what do you guys think? I kinda' like the look...

Drama in the Valley

This was Tuesday at sunset in Yosemite Valley... The clouds surrounding El Capitan and Cathedral rocks never really broke up enough to get any pink light on them, but it was pretty cool how they framed up the bit of alpenglow hitting the cloud in the back... just another magical scene in this mountain paradise...

this is the same comp as the ones I shot last week... what can I say? I just like this spot!
