Augustinian Abbey established by David I in 1138. The Nave was built 40 years later and is more Gothic compared to the original Romanesque east wing. The abbey at Jedburgh being close to the English border suffered severely over the years starting with the wars of independence in the 1300s.

Built in the 1750s, the lime kilns at Charlestown were a huge exporting operation, providing lime for agriculture and building mortar. Lime was exported directly from the harbour opposite.

Remains of the Roman Antonine Wall at the Watling Lodge in Falkirk, looking East.
The Wall consisted of a turf rampart, perhaps 3m (10 feet) high, fronted by a great ditch. The material from the ditch was tipped out onto the north side to form a wide, low mound. Forts were placed along the Wall at intervals of approximately 2 miles (3km). These were linked by a road, called the Military Way, running behind (i.e. south of) the Wall.
