There were a hundred plus photographers standing next to (and on rocks in) a river in a gullywasher rainstorm, snapping shots of this train as it ran by at 40 miles per hour and cussing about getting so wet for pictures that were probably ruined by the falling rain.

This is an antique passenger car that ran on the old Southern Railway. Its out of service now and is on display in the railyard of the Virginia Museum of Transportation.

Boones Mill Train Station

This is the old Boones Mill train depot. It has been unused for many years and I think there's a local group looking to restore it. I did a 5 shot pano of it but I didn't like how it turned out. It made a cool planet though. :D

This was taken through the window of a retired railroad passenger car. The seats had been cleared from the car and there was some equipment stored in it. The red through the other window is another train on an adjacent track.

Coal Screw

This is the bottom surface of the inside of a coal car. The car is filled with coal and the screw moves the coal to a small door at the bottom of the front of the car. The fireman gathers coal from the door to feed the fire in the boiler of the steam engine.
