Exposed Rocks (Explore #48 - December 26, 2012)

I ventured out to the cold and windy Scarborough Bluff's East Point Park this morning, and I really need to emphasis that it was cold and windy! When I first started shooting it was windy but it was somewhat tolerable but the wind really picked up and then it was time to go. The bottom of my pants got soaked but quickly froze. I spent a few hours shooting at the Bluffs and I had meandered some distance down from the path to beach. It was not a fun walk back to the car with the wind gusting.

My intention was to shoot long exposure with emphasis on the wood debris that is scattered on the beach but I noticed all the different rocks in the water which made for more interesting shooting. This is a 5 minute long exposure shot using a Lee Big Stopper ND filter.

I took this shot of the Shard from Millennium Bridge as I was on my way to take a few long exposure shots. This building has definitely changed the skyline around this area and sometime next year when I visit London again it will be completed. Until then I'll look forward to viewing the images that my fellow flickerites post of this architectural marvel

I wanted to give my new Lee ND110 "Big Stopper" filter a test run today that I've had for a few weeks but I've been busy editing a backlog of portrait images from recent shoots. I had Hi-Tech ND110 but I was just not happy with the color cast or just overall results of the filter so I made the move to get the Lee filter. This was only a 30 second exposure but it was huge improvement over the Hi-Tech filter.

Sadly my vacation is coming to an end. I'm heading back home to "Oh Canada" tomorrow morning. I enjoyed Paris and London is always good to me whenever I come to visit.

I tried to arrange some time with the British Prime Minister David Cameron to see if I have some time set aside where I could shoot the Millennium Bridge without anyone walking across it but that didn't work out too well. I had to go with Plan B and use my ND110 filter to make the people disappear as much as possible. This is a 152 second long exposure shot and while I was shooting there were people walking in front of the camera as they walked up from the sidewalk onto the bridge as well as a steady stream of people walking across the bridge but the ND110 filter made the disappear

Calvin J. posted a photo:

I was out with two friends Andrew and Derek yesterday for a sunrise shoot and good conversation. I'd say it was 30% shooting and 70% conversation was the makeup of the outing. I love taking shots but I also love just hanging out with other photographers, whether they are friends or members of photo groups and having the chance to just catch up on how they are doing while having a good laugh.

Check out Derek's work, he's a very good photographer. I met Derek when I first started shooting. He took the time to teach me how to edit in Photoshop and we've been out on many a photo outing which helped me to become a more skilled photographer. If it wasn't for Derek I don't know if I would have became the photographer that I am today.
