This shot was taken with a Canon 30D and Tamron zoom at 300mm (480 effective). Handheld with a high ISO.

You have to admire the low aerodynamic profile of an Arctic Tern in flight. Wow. This little guy has been making trips to-and-from the nest - brining fish.

Potters Marsh. Anchorage, Alaska. Still spotted with snow, the Chugach Mountains are in the background.

I like the X made by the wing-tail combo.

Early evening...Birch and cottonwood trees whip past as a two-person Alaskan bush plane with balloon 'tundra tires' skirts the edge of the Chugach Mountains on it's way back to Anchorage.

We passed this guy on the Seward Hwy on our drive to Portage, Saturday. We couldn't stop on the outbound leg, due to traffic.

This shot was taken handheld while leaning on the car. Aprox 100yds. Tamron 300mm. Cropped.
