Old Town is always an idyllic place after nightfall. This place is called Möbel Hansson, and they do some various things here but basically it's an antique shop.

A Spooky Church

I hadn't tried this method of post-processing before, but I liked the end result in spite of the gradient banding (which I tend to be sensitive to). It gave the church a spooky sense to it, and it is kind of spooky, located on top of a mountain with its steep naked walls. See also: Nynäshamn Church.

This is my neighbourhood, and that's my local grocery store. I've lived here for the past seven years, not counting about half of my childhood. It sounds a bit tragic when I put it like that, but I think it's okay for now.

The Public Library

The Stockholm Public Library was designed by Gunnar Asplund and finished in 1928. It's actually one of the city's more notable buildings, mentioned every now and then in my courses on architecture at the university. Click here for a view of its interior.

I keep coming back to this photo, liking it more and more. Perhaps I should do more of these daylight monochromes.

Quite a lot of happy colors in this shot, just the way I like it. I remember this evening being quite cold, and I had a cramp in my left big toe. You recognize the City Hall of course, since the Nobel Prize is awarded here every year. I read a book about the building not long ago which was interesting enough.

Gripsholm Castle is a renaissance castle-slash-fortress, finished in 1537. It has water around it, so you have to cross this bridge to get there.

Long sunbeams stretching across the image can make almost any subject matter interesting. You just have to be at the right place at the right time, and remember to crank up those f-numbers. Since I was shooting straight into the sun, I could pull this one off handheld.

The Local Prison

This building was erected in 1859 and was the local prison of Norrtälje until 1936. If my information is correct, it is used as an office building today.

As the title suggests, this is a library building. I love the brightly lit and colorful facade, and I presume the guys on the platform loved it too.

Tele2 Arena in Progress

The Tele2 Arena, also known as The Stockholm Arena, under construction. They started building it back in 2010, so this is how it looked almost two years later. The arena is quite big with a maximum capacity of 30 000 people, so it was difficult to properly photograph it. Those construction cranes didn't help much either. The inauguration is scheduled for August 2013.

A parking lot covered in snow and The Waterfront office building behind it. I got this during the darkest time of year in Sweden; proper dusk arrives at about 3:15 PM and lasts for maybe ten minutes or so.

Seems a bit haunting, doesn't it? Well, it's as haunting as open air museums get I suppose. This homestead shows us how master painters used to live in 19th century Norrköping. I don't think they mean master painters like William Turner or Édouard Manet...

Skyview Globe

The world's largest hemispherical building, inaugurated in 1989. You can go all the way to the top along its exterior with Skyview, which is about 110 m or 360 ft tall. I haven't done it yet, but I probably will at one point or another.

This is one of the office buildings being used by White arkitekter. They designed it themselves and it stood finished in 2003.
