Crown Casino

The famous "flames" at Melbourne's Crown Casino in Victoria, Australia.

I felt like a challenge, so decided to shoot these with slide film. I only got two shots that I was moderately happy with, and this is the first. My aim was to get a balanced exposure, the flames in an attractive shape, a good composition and some 'blue hour' sky colour.

The once-splendid Hamer Hall in Melbourne is disfigured by bulldozers and jackhammers as part of it's "revitalisation".

Shot on Coles Reliance Colour Film ISO400.

This roll of Coles generic film cost $2 from Coles supermarket! I decided to give it a try and have found it to have a blue-purple colour cast and low saturation. This roll of film was made in China, and was probably manufactured by Lucky (中国乐凯胶片集团公司).

Various reports seem to suggest that Coles simply rebrand whatever cheap film is available at any one time, so the quality of the film is very variable. You can read more here and here.
