This picture is taken using slide film which is cross processed (xpro) to be developed in c41 instead of e6 as if color negative. This process alters the colors, adds contrast and increases film grain. Note the strange ghostly colors and atmosphere. This is not generated by computer generated effects.It comes from another age. Its analog.

This is not noise. Noise is a defect of lower quality digital sensors. The beauty of genuine film grain is timeless. Noise is something entirely different.

Check the exif. This photo cannot have noise its a scan. Its therefore grain.

famous for its "defects" that make its photos cult.

I presume this editor has rejected this photo claiming there was noise because the editor was not recognising what he was seeing (otherwise he would have used the word grain).

This photo is like all my work artistic and not sharp. Image banks are full of endless generic clean sharp focused. The client who buys my photos for book covers and record sleeves does so wanting that grainier more artistic, atmospheric look.

If you requested this photo its because you wanted it. Its a good photo. It doesn't have noise. Its different and thats why it exists.

I would therefor urge you to reconsider the rejection for non existent "noise".
