Gotta see this large - it is a panorama.

It was quite an amazing sky tonight. I didn't have a great vantage point to shoot it in terms of foregound elements so I figured why not double my pleasure with the flood filter.

Two-shot panorama tonemapped and canvas extended vertically for the flood.

I can't help it but every once and a while at sunset I have to go up to the top of Mount Tolmie and flood Victoria.

A little promo for NASA today. This is Mars. Victoria crater. A piece of a huge panorama comprising dozens of shots taken by the Mars Rover Opportunity. I upsampled the large jpeg file provided by NASA and tonemapped it with Photomatix, then worked on exposure and dynamic range with Topaz Adjust. I think the tonemapping on the rock worked out ok (see large), but the sky pixelated when I uploaded it. Not sure what happened there.

I have been wanting to do this shot for a while, but because they don't allow tripods in the museum it took me a few tries to get away with it. I had to go there on a quiet day and got the shot done before the security guard told me to fold it up.

This Mammoth frightens patrons at the Royal British Columbia Museum in Victoria. It is quite a good diorama. This is a 5 exposure, tonemapped HDR image that has been flooded with the Flaming Pear Flood filter.

Playing with the Coal Harbor skyline. Same building as in the previous shot.

Sometimes I fix lens distortion on skyscrapers, and sometimes not. The left shows the new Vancouver Convention Center, almost complete now.

The original photo was shot through the window a float plane.

Ya had to know I was gonna try this. Sadly my camera wasn't really up to shooting the eclipsed moon in detail like so many of the other great shots we're seeing on flickr right now. Nonetheless, I am compelled...as usual, the moon is real while the water and reflection are simulated using the flood filter.

Camera: Casio EX-P505 on tripod
Exposure: 2.5 sec (5/2)
Aperture: f/3.4
Focal Length: 31.5 mm
Exposure Bias: 2 EV

I hope those of you who could see it took the time to check it out. We had a perfectly clear night here, and the naked-eye viewing was great.

There is an amazing flood of moonshots on flickr right now if you look at the "everyone" stream on your home page.

A bright welcome to Monday. Flaming Pear Flood filter, as well as some color replacement to create this work of imagination and memory. The original photo was taken at Saxe Pointe Park last week. I created a pseudohdr, tonemapped it and the flooded it. The top third is original.
