In each race, 2 teams compete. But before the start to run, it takes 20 minutes...So the main problem is to keep the bulls quiet!
adura island is the home of 'Kerapan Sapi' (Bull Races) held annually after the harvest time (August-October), depending on Ramadan time too.
Bull races are taken seriously by the Madurese people. One reason is that the fastest bulls can be selected for future stockbreeding. So, by the time the island wide competition has reached the stage of district champion against district champion. The bulls are fed ten of eggs, honey, beer and herb and young corn leaf.
Day by day a bath, massage and brush up are given to the bulls. The races cover an area of about 100 meter track. A fast bulls can take in 10 seconds. Each couple of bull pulls a jockey who stands on a sledge. The winning bull is not the one who gets his nose or head across the finish line first, but his leg.
The winners are classified into two categories; they are the winners of the winners and the winners of the losers. Before the races begin, the bulls are displayed at parade accompanied by a group of Madurese musicians.

Some of the jockeys are really young, 10 or 12 years perhaps. Before each race, they smoke what seems their last cigarette.

I cannot imagine what happens if they fall during the race, as they do not wear any helmet...They just protect their feet!

If you've never been in Borobodur, do not go to Angkor before, cos it may be disapointing...
The best time to see Borobodur is at sunset, but the rule says that you must leavebefore sunset for security reasons. With a tip to the police, security reasons are no more a problem!
Built on the island of Java in Indonesia around 800 AD, the Borobudur temple is a huge Mahayana Buddhist monument. The Borobudur is the largest Buddhist monument. Rediscovered in the 19 °s, since 1973 it is again a place of worship and pilgrimage for Indonesian Buddhist and Buddhist from other countries.
The monument comprises five square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. A main dome is located at the center of the top platform, and is surrounded by seventy-two Buddha statues seated inside perforated stupa.
It is the most visited monument in Indonesia.

Each year, during full moon in May or June, hundreds of monks in yellow robe celebrate the Waisak and you can see a torchlight procession and hear their prayers and their singing late in the night. The Borobudur is supposed to guide on the path to enlightenment.
It is listed as World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1991.

Seni Kuda Lumping ,a traditional dance of Java is one of these trance dances, in which masks for spirit characters and flat woven bamboo horses are the main props. The dance is about the battle of good and evil, with the horse riding characters going into a trance where they behave like horses. Kuda Lemping literally means "flat horses."
