Italian sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro bronze Sphere within Sphere (1982, with a diameter of 200 cm) by Trinity College in Dublin (Ireland).

We have read a number of interpretations of this work such as "the inner ball represents the Earth and outer ball represents Christianity, thus representing that Christianity (or religion) is bigger than the Earth" and "the fractured surface of the outer sphere reveals a very complex inner sphere that represents the harsh difficulties that the modern world finds itself in at the end of the second millennium".

On December 1st, Kinnaird Head (Scottish Gaelic: An Ceann Àrd, meaning "high headland") celebrated its 225th birthday. Kinnaird Castle was built in 1570 by Sir Alexander Fraser, 8th laird of Philorth. A powerful lantern was added to the top floor in 1787, when it became the Northern Lighthouse Board's first lighthouse, and a light-keeper was hired. The lighthouse has been modified over the years by the Stevenson family of engineers and was replaced by a modern lighthouse in 1991. It is now home to the Scottish Lighthouse Museum.

Another photo of our boat trip to Isle of Staffa: the pyramidal rock islet of Am Buachaille (The Herdsman), a pile of basalt columns fully seen only at low tide. There is a landing place used by the tourist boats just north of Am Buachaille, but disembarkation is only possible in calm conditions.

Staffa is simply gorgeous! Unfortunately the boat that takes you there gives you only one hour to explore the place, far from enough to enjoy the whole island.

The medieval Cathedral of Pisa is entitled to St. Mary of the Assumption and is a five-naved cathedral with a three-naved transept. Construction was begun in 1063 by the architect Buscheto, and set the model for the distinctive Pisan Romanesque style of architecture. The Cathedral was consecrated in the year 1118, even though still incomplete, by Pope Gelasio II. It was terminated in the 13th century, with the erection of the façade, unchanged up to today, by Rainaldo. The Cathedral is about 100 meters long and 54 meters high, and is about 35 meters high. The façade of The Cathedral is articulated in five orders of arches, the inferior of which has seven blind arches; the two lateral gates, and one central gate, are separated by columns and pilasters.

In 1987 the cathedral was declared, as part of the Piazza del Duomo, UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the neighbouring tower, baptistery and cemetery.
