Hallway of the Westin hotel in Philadelphia. Was there for 3 nights this week (one of my longer out-of-town stays in recent memory). Edited in Snapseed. Gave it a bit of a grainy look and converted to B&W.

(Apparently when you edit with Snapseed, it messes up the date/time stamp on iPhone photos as well as the GPS location. This was taken on May 16, not May 19).

We were traveling for a bit of the day and running errands. There was a break in the rain for a bit, but I didn't end up taking advantage, before another storm moved through. With limited day light left, snapped a quick shot of a rain-drenched rose growing on a neighbors rose bush.

Spent the weekend with good friends in the North Carolina mountains (near Cashiers, NC). Unfortunately, we got the rain that seemed to blanket the whole Southeast the whole time. However, being up on a mountain, we also got fog / cloud. I loved the eerie nature of the trees and fog. This is straight out of camera with B&W conversion.

Was taking some shots of a "toll house pie" that the wifey made and that she wanted to blog about on her food blog. Some of the photos had a fork next to the slice of pie, and I realized I have never done the fork bokeh shots where you focus on the very end of the prongs. Thought this turned out pretty cool, and is essentially straight out of the camera other than converting to b&w.

One of my favorite movies of all time -- Anchorman -- has had its sequel being filmed in the Atlanta area over the past several months. In the original, I have always loved the Scotchy-scotch-scotch line that WIll Ferrell's character recites at the beginning of the movie.

I'm also a big fan of whisk(e)y. Scotch, bourbon, you name it.

My nephew loves his Nintendo 3DS, and in particular, playing Mario games (this one is Super Mario Brothers 2). It's funny to think that when I was his age, the first Nintendo (NES) had just recently come out, and I was just as engrossed in playing Super Mario Brothers

[19/365] Atlanta skyline from the Jackson Street Bridge

With a little more time to do something fun with my Project 365, I ventured over to the Jackson Street Bridge, just east of downtown Atlanta, threw on my ND3.0 / ND 110 and took some long exposure shots. This one ended up being a 4 minute exposure.

Also got a long exposure shot with the sun in the scene, just before it went down behind the buildings on the left, which can be seen here.

Taken from the same vantage point (but 4.5 years later) where some of my most viewed photos on flickr were taken: photo 1 and photo 2. My how things have changed (and arguably improved). This shot used no HDR techniques (just simple adjustments in Lightroom and Photoshop). Those other two were post-processed with a single-file HDR technique.

Leo had minor surgery on his ear, and unfortunately for him, has to wear the conehead thing for a while so he doesn't scratch at the scar. He clearly hates it.

Haven't taken a proper self-portrait in years (I like to be behind the camera not in front of it :). With the weather here in Atlanta pretty rainy and dreary (if you're watching the Masters you'll get a sense), thought it might be a good day to do one. My somewhat ambitious plan was to try to shoot one with my 85L set up on a tripod and 10 second time. With super shallow DoF, that requires a TON of trial and error. Ultimately, I had to shrink the aperture to f/2.8.

(I have been terrible about uploading my photo of the day on the day I take it. I've gotten in bad practice over the past two weeks of uploading a full week's worth on the weekend).
