This gorgeous fella was returned because he was "too rambunctious" for the family who took him earlier this year. He's in a new foster home now with a young cat in need of a playmate to see if he fits in better there. Odd-eyed white cats like this one are more common than other odd-eyed coat colors as the heterochromia that is causing this is linked to the white or white-spotting gene. Often odd-eyed white cats are deaf on the side with the blue eye, but not always. I don't know if that's the case for this cute guy as well.

BlueRidgeKitties posted a photo:

One of the black and white kitties at the Pet Fair this weekend - she was actually adopted shortly after I took this picture. Yeay! They actually had a very good day for the cats today - all the adults were either adopted or found foster homes. However, the dogs weren't as lucky - they had no adoptions at all.

Update Jan. 2010: Well, Peep now goes by the name Micky and she was returned because her owner had travel plans that she did not fit into. So she's back in rescue, looking for a new home again. She's really sweet - she deserves a loving forever home.

Update April 11, 2010: She found a family to take her home this weekend to see if she gets along with their dog. Hopefully they'll both behave and become best friends forever!

Feral kitten Kiki at the Pet Fair wasn't sure whether she could trust my camera or not. Her brother wasn't bothered and was much more interested in the food.

Update Sept. 29, 2009: Kiki got adopted last weekend. Yeay!

Sorry it's a bit overexposed - it was a very drab and rainy day and I had to use the built-in flash to get decent pics for the Petfinder site. A better flash is one of the things on my wishlist.

This is Mr. Markle. He's a gorgeous gray and white male with a head that seems way to big for his skinny body. Apparently he was turned in because he was "too demanding." Well, from what I've been told, it sounds like he was kept outside all winter long (with all that cold weather we've been having!) and probably wasn't even fed on a regular basis. I imagine he was just very, very cold and hungry. No wonder he has been crying all night long! He's such a friendly boy though and I'm sure with regular feeding he's going to put on some weight in no time. He's looking for someone who doesn't think that it is too demanding to supply secure access to a warm and cozy sleeping place and enough food to fill his belly.

Update April 11, 2010: Mr. Markle charmed someone into taking him home this weekend. Hopefully his life will be all better now. Yeay!

BlueRidgeKitties posted a photo:

It wasn't Zoey's lucky day yesterday - nobody took her home yet. The good news is that she was the only one that didn't have a home or at least a foster home to go to at the end of the day. All the other cats got taken.

Update Jan. 2010: Looks like Zoey has a home! Someone saw my picture of her on Petfinder and wanted to give her try, So far it seems to go well.

One of the feral kittens at the Pet Fair this weekend. At first she wasn't thrilled about me and my camera, but then she got curious about it. They're getting a lot more socialized than they were the first day they were brought out. Foster care can do wonders!
What a face

BlueRidgeKitties posted a photo:

Probably the most interesting cat face I've seen at the pet fair this weekend - this is Ms. Socks.

Update Sept. 19, 2009: Despite being the most popular of the cat pictures I've taken, Ms. Socks is still waiting to be adopted. All the other cats and dogs I took pictures of have found new homes. People will comment on her at the Pet Fair, but nobody ever takes her home. What's up with that?! Strange world...

Update Nov. 28, 2009: Ms. Socks still does not have a home of her own. She didn't make it out to the pet fair today because she disappeared last night. We went to look for her tonight and found that she had escaped outside! It took three of us chasing her around the neighborhood in the dark for an hour (try finding a black cat in the dark!), but luckily we did manage to catch her. She's in another foster home now where she cannot escape that easily and hopefully she can make it back out to the pet fair again next weekend.

Update Jan. 8, 2010: Ms. Socks finally has a home! I just learned that she was adopted while I was away on my trip to Germany because someone saw my picture of her on Petfinder and fell in love with her. I hear it's working out great so far. Yeay!
