I'm sorry (again) that I've not been able to comment much on your photos in recent weeks. I've had another massive flare up of the repetitive strain injury, so I've got to restrict computer time. I'm so sorry, but it looks as though this is how it's going to have to be more or less indefinitely.

Wakehurst In The Spring

ExPLoReD!!! At No 46 on 31st March 2012. Thanks guys and gals for all your comments and favourites!

The mansion at Wakehurst Place, looking lovely in the spring sunshine yesterday.

The Sequoia tree on the left is, every December, lit up with lights, right to the top. The blurb from Wakehurst Place says that this makes it the tallest living christmas tree in the UK. They also claim that it is used by pilots as a navigational aid as they come into land at nearby Gatwick Airport. I was under the impression that modern day pilots had far more sophisticated navigational instruments, so I find this story highly improbable!

I absolutely adored, and was rather astonished by, the intensity of the mauveness in this planting combination, in the Walled Garden at Wakehurst Place.

We went to the Slips area of Wakehurst Place to see what plants were emerging in the woodland gardens (mainly bright green Hemoracallis leaves). Anyway, this is always a delightful area of the gardens, because of the tiny rill that runs through it, cascading down a series of miniature waterfalls.
