Winter Solstice 2011
Only at the time of winter solstice(21st Dec) the passage and chamber of the mound at Newgrange are illuminated by rays of the rising sun. Unfortunately this year sky was covered by clouds...

Every year on “Reek Sunday”, the last Sunday of July thousands of people, climb the holy mountain in Co. Mayo, Ireland. Many pilgrims, as an act of penance undertake their walk barefoot. This tradition spans over 1500 years without interruption.
It was on the summit of the mountain that Saint Patrick fasted for forty days in AD 441. Then, when descending he threw a silver bell down the side of the mountain, knocking the pagan she-demon Corra from the sky and banishing all the snakes from Ireland.
