Montjuïc Castle, built on a site giving an all-round command of Barcelona, its harbour and approaches with the objective of subjecting the people of Barcelona to Spanish rule, was first built in 1640. 50 years later, between 1705 and 1714, it became a key site in the War of the Spanish Succession. Montjuïc Castle gained its current appearance in the middle of the 18th century.
For hundreds of years, Montjuïc Castle was a symbol of repression and a place to be feared. From these walls Barcelona’s enemies have bombarded the city of Barcelona, and within them imprisoned, tortured and murdered its inhabitants.
Montjuïc Castle offers stunning views over the city of Barcelona and its harbour and is worth the trip.

I took this photograph inside Bongeunsa which is a Buddhist temple in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It was founded in 794 during the reign of King Wonseong by the monk Yeon-hoe, then the highest ranking monk of Silla, and originally named Kyongseoungsa. It is located on the slope of Sudo Mountain in Samseong-dong, across the street from the COEX Mall.
The temple is also a notable tourist destination, offering a "Temple Stay Program" in which visitors can lead the life of a monk for a few hours.

Holmenkollen Chapel is located at Holmenkollen in Oslo, Norway. The original chapel from 1903 was destroyed by fire in 1992. The new chapel was completed in 1996. Holmenkollen Chapel is a listed site, registered in Norway's cultural heritage database.

I took this photograph in the woods near Frognerseteren which is the end station of the Holmenkollen Line of the Oslo Metro, located in the Marka section of Oslo, the capital city of Norway. The elevation of the station is 469 meters (1,539 ft) above sea level, the highest of all the stations in Oslo.
The area around Frognerseteren has very little population, but is popular for recreation, with a restaurant and hiking trails or, during the winter, skiing.

This photograph was taken inside the Akershus Fortress which is a medieval castle that was built to protect Oslo, the capital of Norway. The first construction on the castle started around the late 1290s. It has also been used as a prison in the past and presently it is one of the tourist attractions of the city.
Akershus fortress is still a military area, but is open to the public daily until 9pm. In addition to the castle, the Norwegian Armed Forces Museum and the Norwegian Resistance Museum can be visited there. The Norwegian Ministry of Defence and Defence Staff Norway (armed forces headquarters) have a joint modern headquarters in the eastern part of Akershus Fortress.
