A Haitian child sits with his Mother after a medical screening at Guillaud Haitian School, July 24, in Port-de-Paix, Haiti. The child has six toes on each foot and his mother hopes for the sixth toe to be surgically removed. Marines and Sailors of the USS Iwo Jima visited the school as part of a mission site screening throughout Port-de-Paix in preparation for military personnel and non-government officials to conduct humanitarian efforts during Operation Continuing Promise 2010.

Marines practice amphibious landings

Marines with 4th Platoon, Company C, 3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division, return to amphibious transport dock USS New Orleans (LPD 18) after spending July 4, 2010, repairing the transmission of an amphibious assault vehicle on a beach in Ancon, Peru. The Marines were embarked aboard USS New Orleans in support of Partnership of the Americas/Southern Exchange, a combined amphibious exercise with maritime forces from Argentina, Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Uruguay and Colombia.

Marines and Sailors from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit unload and stack Meals-Ready-To-Eat cases from a CH-53E Super Stallion, during a re-supply mission in Dano, Haiti, Jan. 28, 2010. The relief aid was brought in by CH-53E Super Stallion helicopters from Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 461 (reinforced), 22nd MEU, to help aid the people of the small village in support of Operation Unified Response.

Lance Cpl. Alfred, Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 24th MEU, shares a laugh with some children in the town of Mirebalais, Haiti during a disaster relief assessment of the area today. Alfred is of Hatian desent and acted as a translator for a 10-man assessment team. The team flew in on MV-22 Ospreys, marking the first time these aircraft have flown in support of a Humanitarian mission.
