Have found a lot of mating pairs last days.

My previous shoot of these was on mid March 2012, they should mate in fairly consistent times.

One of the most interesting camouflage in my hunting place. Possibly remember some other membracidade eggs, a second choice would be a cordyceps infested insect, a thing that predators avoid. A third alternative could be a haircut from nobility centuries ago.

We are still under hard climate, with very scarce rain for this time of the year, and I got trouble finding the most common insects. Looks like only some members of hymenoptera family, like bees and ants still believe in a recovery and are not hibernating or dead by the lack of water.

This bee nest was a relief for some macro exercises and they were very friendly.

Still reduced number of insects these days, the climate warm and relatively dry, today the only activity were these harmless social bees stating a nest inside a tree, this tree have holes and retain some water so they have chosen well the spot.

Many thanks to the big ant for leaving the defensive position and posing near the scale insect asking for honeydew. The scale insect give sweet liquid to the ant in exchange for protection.

After 4 months of extremely scarce rain we finally got 2 days of continuous rain, and the insect life returned to a extent.

The desperate face of the ant reflects what I am seeing last weeks, being relatively cold (for summer) and dry and insect population is on decline.

I'm not sure if these dried eggs still harbor life, but they were arranging them carefully.
