Konark Sun Temple is a 13th century Sun Temple (also known as the Black Pagoda). It was constructed from oxidized and weathered ferruginous sandstone by King Narasimhadeva I (1238-1250 CE) of the Eastern Ganga Dynasty. The temple is an example of Orissan architecture of the Ganga dynasty.

The temple is a World Heritage Site. It is one of the Seven Wonders of India (as per the poll collected by NDTV).

Legend has it that the temple was constructed by Samba, the son of Lord Krishna. It is said that Samba was afflicted by leprosy, brought about by his father’s curse on him. After 12 years of penance, he was cured by Surya, the Sun God, in whose honour he built the magnificent Konark Sun Temple.

The name Konark is derived from the Sanskrit word Kona (meaning angle) and word Arka (meaning sun) in reference to the temple which was dedicated to the Sun god Surya.

The Black-hooded Oriole, Oriolus xanthornus, is a member of the oriole family of passerine birds and is a resident breeder in tropical southern Asia from India and Sri Lanka east to Indonesia.

The Himalayan Bulbul (Pycnonotus leucogenys) is a species of songbird in the Pycnonotidae family. If they are mixed with humans from a young age, they will become friendly to humans. It is found in the northern regions of the Indian Subcontinent as well as some adjoining areas. It is the national bird of Bahrain.

The Black-naped Oriole (Oriolus chinensis) is a bird of the oriole family and is found in many parts of Asia.

Unlike the Golden Oriole which only has a short and narrow eye-stripe, the Black-naped Oriole has the stripe broadening and joining at the back of the neck. Males and females are very similar although the wing lining of the female is more greenish. The bill is pink and is stouter than in the Golden Oriole.

Garud Tal is one of the seven lakes of Sat Tal ( In Hindi, Sat means Seven , Tal means Lake ), the name of the rest lakes are Purna Tal, Ram Tal, Sita Tal, Laxman Tal, Nal Damyanti Tal, Sukh Tal.

Sattal is often compared with Westmoreland of England by Britishers.

Sat Tal is a cluster of mysteriously interconnected seven freshwater lakes situated 22kms away from Nainital.

It is set at an altitude of 4500 ft above sea level. The group of lakes is set amidst dense forests of oak and pine trees.

These lakes are paradise for migratory birds as they stay for some time here during their migration. Sattal is one of the few unspoiled and unpolluted fresh water biomes in India.

A Panoramic View of Api and Nampa Mountain Range - stiched from 3 frame.

Although these peaks lie in Nepal, they can be seen on a clearest day from Binsar Sanctuary, Binsar, Uttarakhand, India.

I can not identify the perfect name for each of these Peaks but the name of these peaks are as follows :

Api (7132m.), Byans (6670m.), Guransh (6644), Lipu Lek (5,000m.) and Nampa (6757m)
