While having diner with Valérie, the kids came back from the basement dressed with plastic bags (designed and cut by Florence), just like this. Valérie told me : "Awww.. you have to take a picture of this!". So, I left my plate on the table, grabbed my camera, just set up one flash with the beauty dish and took 3 to 5 shots. I got back to my diner, my plate was still hot. :)

Let's make 2012 the joy ride of a lifetime!

First, this is my wish to all of you for this new year!

Second, this represents very well what I plan to do this year. I want to travel a lot in solo to take pictures, meet people and to let life suprise me again.

There is always a chair for you at my place, can't wait to meet with you someday!

This picture is not really representative of our family life fast pace right now. I took it while the kids were having a nap and Valérie was correcting her 105 students works. A rare moment of quietness. :-)

I should start being a full-time photographer in a few days. After five years of father-at-home, we finally decided on putting our younger kids to the kindergarten.. I will finally get my life back. ;-) But seriously, for my sanity, it was about time. I don't know what life has in store for me from now on but, I will surely appreciate every personal moments of freedom.

Hope you are all doing fine. Wish me well... I will need it! :P

Went alone for a pathetic photo walk tonight. Only shot this picture. pfffffff... I have hard time finding sleep lately... so I thought a little exercise would be good... still on high uploading this. Not good.

Dear friends,

It's been quite some time since my last post here on Flickr. Life has been quite a ride since my 365 end. I've been shooting a lot for friends/contacts and corporate clients. I've done a lot of kids photography... I seriously love shooting children. I can tell you that this generation of kids are not afraid at all of the camera and makes my life quite easy. The only thing is that they all run to see the back of my camera when they hear the shutter release. :-) It has become a reflex in all of them. But, my skills have improved so much thanks to them.

My small photography business has a great start... much more than I hoped for the first 3 months. I can't wait for the summer months to shoot outside. As much as i like studio work.. the real fun and the real studio is outside.

I am going to start a new photography project - no not a 365 - that I hope to complete for Fall. It will be a serie of local artists/creators oversized portraits shot in black and white. An exhibition in November is my ultimate goal... We'll see. I need to secure my domain name for the project and the invitations to the artists are about to be sent. I hope I'll get a good response.

I just wanted to say Hi to all of you... I miss this wonderful community here... I hope I would have more time on my hand to scroll through all your crazy pictures - which I do from time to time - and comment more.

I miss the diary part of my 365... as you can see. :-) Maybe a 52 project would be nice... maybe. :-)

I must mark this day on a stone! This afternoon, Valérie came back with a new hair cut and asked, by herself, for a photo shoot session!!! :))) I think she starts to like it. :)))

We took few pictures, and some came out really good... I love my new lighting gear. :) Now I need to learn how to give quick directions and interact more with my subjects.

Can't wait for the spring to get the gear outside and take creative shots again!

Here I am with my beautiful northern tan! :))) Weather : -10C with a very freezing wind. Anything for the shot they say... LOL :-) The neighbours are playing hockey beside me! :-) One year now that I give myself to you (fortunately not often/always naked) through photography. :-) I never thought I'd share so much about me. :-)

As a graphic designer, I always loved photography but by starting this project I really discovered a real passion that will turned into my day job this year.

If you've followed my stream a little bit, you have understood that I tried really every style possible. Ok... maybe not every but I did try a lot of things. My personal humourous shots really launched my stream which makes me realize that beyond the technical or artistic side, my communication skill will be my most valuable asset as a photographer.

This 365 has been one of the hardest thing I have ever done. Having to take care of a family of 5 doesn't give you much spare time to have a hobby. The last stretch has been the hardest with Florence's school schedule. I had to take a 10 days break that almost killed the project. I had to cheat a bit to come back on track but as long as it didn't interfere with the goal of learning, I felt it was ok.

But.... seriously, I couldn't have made it without a lot of support from Valérie and the kids. Florence was trying to find a meaning to every picture or to discover the FX behind the composite pictures.On this one she said "Now you just erased your coat and pants in GIMP!" :-)

Unfortunately, due to our heavy day load and the burden winter imposes on us, the family interest and support was quickly fadind. The end is very welcomed. :-)

Finally I want to thank you all for your continuous support, comments and faves. I felt real interest and sometime love not only for my pictures but for the life/my life behind the pictures. I know it's real since I have found real friendship here on Flickr that goes way beyond the virtuality of Internet. Now I just hope to meet many of you in person when I'll start travelling again. Kids will grow up fast I suppose and hope. :-)

I wish to get even better next year and will post from time to time what I consider to be my best shots. I'll keep most of my family and daily pics on Facebook though. Do not hesitate to contact me through FB if you want to keep in touch. www.facebook.com/#!/normand.desjardins

It's been a very quiet New Year's Eve since most people in the family recover from the flu or the gastro. :-) When I woke up this morning it was raining and there was a huge fog on the lake.

Resolution no.1 - Don't let the weather stop you from shooting. :-)

I asked my friend Johnny if I could shoot in front of his fishing shack. Thanks Johnny!

What you don't see here is the pouring rain and Margot crying outloud in her stroller nearby. To make it worst, I didn't have my remote so I was on the 10sec timer with a camera 45'+ from the shack! So it was a 3 shots photoshoot. :-)

Lasr one tomorrow... should I wait that you all recover from your parties??? ;-)

Here's my best buddy Phil and one of my strongest supporter. :-) He deserves a place of his own in my 365. I know him since we are 14 and he even became my brother-in-law when I stole the heart of his sister. :-)))

He will be 40 too on January 2nd but, I really want to finish this project on January 1st!!! So his picture is today's one... sorry for a second daily upload.

3 remaining.. I have an idea for the last one on January 1st but I am still unsure about it. Tomorrow should see 2 posts too... I have one idea but a blank spot for the second shot. Any request??? We'll see. :-)

Can't wait for next year now so I can quietly stay behind the camera shooting other people. :-)

I baked homemade waffles this morning. You should see how excited the kids are when I do this. Crêpes and pancakes are ok but, nothing beats waffles with maple syrup. :-)

Just a snapshot as a placeholder for a better shot to come. We were going to our country house for a two weeks Holiday break and I realized I didn't post any picture of one of our biggest achievement this year : our new kitchen (in fact it was all done in september). I'll need to redo this one to highlight correctly the work of my father/godfather and I for the structure and my sister for the cabinets.

And we do not see here the master piece which is the pantry and the huge "caissons" that goes as high as the ceiling just surrounding the fridge. All made of dark wood. Anyway.
