There is always something to find in NYC, A dance performance in Time Square, Shakespeare in Washington Square or the Sikh Day Parade on Madison Avenue.

Food and smiles were abundant at the 2012 Annual NYC Sikh Day Parade. Avear Singh is from Richmond Hill, Queens. He came to America 32 years ago and drives a cab. Which means, he has lots of good stories.

Avear is a proud man. Proud of his heritage and his culture. Avear has seen the world. When I asked "Where he had the most fun?" His face lit up and he said Sicily.

Chuck is a retired AFL-CIO union member. He worked on Broadway as a stagehand.

Shaking hands and talking up his union comes naturally to Chuck. Union benefits helped him retired comfortably and his hard work provided a good life for his family.

A few hours later, I saw Chuck resting on a bench. Poor guy, he was exhausted. I really enjoyed seeing the old guard handing the fight over to the next generation.

Poison Ivy (#5 Ann)

Ann and her friends went to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens' Sakura Matsuri festival dressed as Victorian characters.

Ann's character is a Victorian Poision Ivy. Her costume is elaborate with makeup and jewelry. She was having fun showing off her handiwork.

Some people are lucky and are able to pursuing their passion. Ann is an artist and costume designer. Going to cosplay events with her friends keeps her busy.

#2 Edin and Marjorie

My day started on an off note. The first person I approached politely declined to have her photograph taken. My mojo was not working and photographs were alluding me. I needed a treat. So, I walked over to Roccos' on Bleecker Street and got five amaretti cookies.

Washington Square Park has a dog run. The dogs and their owners are fun to watch. So, I sat near the dog run and ate my cookies. There was a nice couple sitting on the bench next to me. We started to chat and I explained to them about the 100 Strangers Project. They were interested and allowed me to take their photograph.

We talked for nearly an hour. They were very nice. We had similar interests and talked about life experiences. Edin and Marjorie lived in the neighborhood for the past 21 years and Edin was the president of his co-op association for 9 of those years.

They are thinking about moving and one of their options is Philadelphia. I lived there for 14 years and gave them my impression of the city.

#1 Amanda and Pearl

I noticed Amanda in the park walking with her dog Pearl. Her outfit was great and she was very photogenic.

This is my first 100 Strangers photograph. So, my approach is not polished and I did not get to know her well. We mostly talked about how she picked out her outfit and her friendly little dog Pearl.

Amanda wanted the photograph to include her dog Pearl. She said they were a team.
