Victory Factory Building - Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company

This is a current view of the Victory Factory at the long-gone Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company, Johnson City, New York.

My grandfather worked here at this factory, as did thousands of immigrants and laborers, for many years. The history is a fascinating one of the way in which E-J treated it's employees, and is well worth a read at various places. At the very least, the wikipedia article can give a good overview. E-J's influence on what would later become International Business Machines (IBM) is also very interesting!

There are is a collection of wonderful historic photos from the area here.

The company was responsible for nearly all of the shoe and footwear for the United States Army during World War I and World War II.

I've had the idea to shoot this particular image for quite some time, but only just got around to getting off my butt and hauling out to the park on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

44 shot panorama using a tripod (no pano head, though).

Stitched in Hugin, and a few elements remasked by hand to clean up some edges and for some color consistencies.

I also made a watermark, and this is the first image I've ever posted here that has it. Not sure if I like it, but figured I went through the trouble of making it, might as well use it :) ).

I am also thinking I might offer to sell prints of this particular image, probably in a limited run (like 10 or so). So if anyone wants to buy a neat print, just let me know! :D

Spent a delightful 4th of July at my Aunts house in Henderson, KY. A lot of eating, relaxing, visiting and enjoying the wonderful summer days!

Of course, idle hands drive me nuts, so I figured why not take a quick panorama to really remember the day! This was stitched together with about 40 photos in Hugin.

My wife and aunt are lounging in the yard on the south side of the planet. :)

Taken outside of building 2 of the Technology & Research Park at the University of South Alabama.

The day was just incredible weather-wise. We were enduring over a week of constant rainshowers, and this morning we had a record low! It was gorgeous, bright, sunny, and cool today. Perfect weather and time to take this shot.

This is what happens when you are too lazy to head out for a shoot on a Sunday. You walk down the street and look silly shooting all the images needed for a panoramic shot.

This is my first equirectangular panorama. I was mostly just trying to validate the process in Hugin. As such, the stitch is not all that great in a few places. However, knowing what I do now, the next set should be a lot better! :)

Stitch involved the alignment of 19 exposures, including the nadir.
