View from Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes near Stove Pipe Wells. The alpenglow light is on Panamint Mountains. The Panamint range is a short rugged fault-block mountain range on the northern edge of the Mojave Desert. The highest peak in the range is Telescope Peak with an elevation of 11,049 feet (3,368 m).

The Devil's Golf Course

The Devil's Golf Course is a large salt pan on the floor of Death Valley. The salt consists of the minerals that were dissolved in the water of a lake that once covered the valley to a depth of 30 feet and is now left behind in the Badwater Basin (282 ft / 86 m below sea level) as the lake evaporated.

Death Valley is a desert valley located within the Mojave Desert. It features the lowest, driest, and hottest locations in North America. Badwater, a basin located in Death Valley, is the lowest elevation in North America at 282 feet (86.0 m) below sea level. The massive expanse is made up of almost pure table salt.
