Canon 5D MkII camera with Canon EF 17-40mm f4 L USM Superwide Lens. Exposure - 1/800th/Sec @ f8 200ISO. Focal length = 24mm.
Processed using FastStone Editor/Viewer, Adobe Camera Raw 6, Photoshop CS5, and Topaz Re-mask 3.

Death Valley, CA. Long Night Exposure. Stars, looking in a North-Westerly direction. The foreground in this photo is a 147 sec. exposure at f2.8 ISO200, while the background (the stars themselves) is a 45 sec. exposure at f2.8 ISO200. Final processing using Photoshop and Topaz Labs DeNoise5.

This is a shot I found while going over my Death Valley series. I had not processed it before. Now I have applied some Topaz Labs magic and. . . Look! On September 15th 2010, I made some necessary corrections to this image.

Keys View Sunset 2

Sunset view from Key's View, Joshua Tree NP. Winter 2010. This view is looking towards the Salton Sea which is towards the left of the image but poorly seen, while to the right of the Sea are the Santa Rosa Mountains. Far off to the right is the city of Palm Springs, CA.

The Salton Sea is approximately one mile below the location of this shot and its water level is 226ft below sea level. An accidental dam break during the building of the Cochella Canal allowed the Colorado River to stream through it into the Salton Sink (a prehistoric dry lake bed) which created the Salton Sea in 1905. The Salton Sea is the largest lake (though it is salt or saline water) in California.

Mono Lake Panorama - Sierra Nevada 1

View from Hwy 395 South, Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Mono Lake is an extremely saline lake in the California desert. It forms large, standing, chemical towers called "tuffa" through the process of evaporation of the lake's meager water in the dry air. The lake is host to over 2 million migratory birds during various seasons of the year; owing to its rich algae bloom which feeds trillions of bring shrimp and alkali-loving flies, which provide a rich source of food for the birds.

I have been traveling for close to two months now in a travel trailer - primarily visiting with family and friends in California. Haven't had much time for photography but when I saw this, I had to stop and capture it. The time of day could not have been better to capture the grandeur of this view.

Canon 5D MkII camera with Canon EF 17-40mm f4 L USM Superwide Lens. Exposure - 1/250th/Sec @ f11 100ISO. 5 single-shot panorama. Focal length for these shots was 20mm.
Processed using FastStone Editor/Viewer, Dynamic Photo HDR, Adobe Camera Raw 6, Photoshop CS5, and Topaz Re-mask 3.

Taken in a dry canyon North-East of Los Angeles which suffered major fire damage in 2007. This has been a year of record heat and sparse rain, and the dry season is not over yet.
