Cycling along the undercliff path from Brighton, I come across the most unusual drumming practice site I've ever seen. He's called "puncture kit" and his website is linked here

I'm not sure why he's rigged his kit up to his bike - the waves crashing around it will rust his bearings......

After 6 months of winter, London descended on Brighton beach for the first sunny Mayday bank holiday in years. The fact that the sea was still freezing didn't stop some people getting in: and others taking the cliched photos of splashing water backed by sunlight.

I find that the most magical moment of a sunset is those few moments when the sun shines up to the underside of the clouds in the most gorgeous colours.
Here in Brighton, we end up with yet another view of the burnt out West Pier

As I cycled home along Hove seafront a blizzard blew into my face.
So I had to stop for shelter wherever I could.
Each time, I quickly took out my cheap compact and did a few very quick snaps before the snow broke my camera.
But some turned out great and one, taken moments after this, eneded up getting over 1,500 views on flickr in one day, which is by a long way a record.

I can't believe I cycled home from work through this into blinding blizzard-like winds and snow.
I had to stop here to shelter behind a wall because the snow actually hurt. Then I realised it was dry enough to get my camera out.
The blurry, "drawing like" quality of the picture is partly because it was snowing heavily, partly because it was blowing a gale, and partly because I'm using a cheap £100 compact - my only camera.

Brighton seafront displays great winter skies sometimes. Here, the sun has cast two mysterious mini-rainbows in the clouds on either side. I just found out its a "Circumhorizontal arc". More here.

But the peaceful calm south of Kemptown seafront was also very beautiful.
