A wedding party going to the city hall by open carriage (very risky regarding Dutch weather conditions). Interestingly the bridal couple were two women* It doesn't get more Dutch than this I guess.

As an added bonus you can hear my wife count to five in Dutch.

Korenmolen 't Slot in Gouda is a so-called smock mill. A smock mill is a type of windmill that consists of a sloping, horizontally weatherboarded tower, usually with six or eight sides. It is topped with a roof or cap that rotates to bring the sails into the wind. This type of windmill got its name from its resemblance to smocks worn by farmers in an earlier period. This particular smock mill in Gouda was constructed in 1832.

The Amsterdam School (Dutch: Amsterdamse School) is a style of architecture that arose from 1910 through about 1930 in the Netherlands. The Amsterdam School movement is part of international Expressionist architecture, sometimes linked to German Brick Expressionism.

This building is now the home of the Resistance Museum.

The Waag in Gouda is a weigh house that was built in 1668 and was mainly used for weighing cheese.

A weigh house or weighing house is a building at or within which goods, and the like, are weighed. Most of these buildings were built before 1800, prior to the establishment of international standards for weights. As public control of the weight of goods was very important, they were run by local authorities who would also use them for the levying of taxes on goods transported through or sold within the city. Therefore, weigh houses would often be near a market square or town centre.

Between 1550 and about 1690 people accused of witchcraft were at times brought to a weigh house in order to be subjected to a "witch test". If a person was found to be lighter than a set weight, he or she was deemed guilty.

Weigh houses were especially common in the Netherlands, Germany, where they are called waag and waage respectively (both meaning "scale") and Poland (smatruz, in Krakow and Poznan). Outside the Netherlands and Germany the public weighing usually didn't take place in a special building, but in a town hall, guild hall, courthouse, or the like.

National Pharmaceutical Museum De Moriaan in Gouda is part of museumgoudA and opened its doors in December 2007. Goal of the museum is to show the history of pharmacy and the development of medicine.

The museum is housed in quite an interesting building and its first indication dates from 1513. Till 1605 it housed a bakery called "De Twaelff Maenen" (the twelve moons). After that it was used as a grocery store with the name "In de Goecoop". The wall tablet with the maxim "Loop, loop, dit is in de Goecoop" dates from this period. At the end of the 17th century is became a store for tobacco, coffee and tea. The tablet in the facade dates from the 17th century and the signboard with the Moor (de Moriaan) dates from the 18th century.

The present gable top in Dutch Renaissance style was constructed around 1617. The gable tilts forward (about 1 meter), so the upper floors had a little bit more space. Another advantage of the tilting facade is that the gable with the windows is not hit directly by rain.

De Vier Gekroonden

De Vier Gekroonden is a late Gothic house in Gouda and dates from approximately 1530. It is in the Top 100 of Dutch UNESCO-monuments.

The frieze with the depiction of the "Four Crowned Martyrs" probably dates from before 1532. The depiction not only shows the work of bricklayers and masons, but is also a tribute to the Four Crowned Martyrs.

According to the Passion of St. Sebastian, the four saints were soldiers (specifically cornicularii, or clerks in charge of all the regiment's records and paperwork) who refused to sacrifice to Aesculapius, and therefore were killed by order of Emperor Diocletian (284-305). Eventually they became the patron saints of construction workers. On the empty spot in the middle of the frieze was probably an image of Mary.

The Catharina Gasthuis in Gouda used to be a hospital, but is a museum nowadays. Some of the buildings of this complex date back to the 15th century.
