Taken shortly after sundown. Notice how the wing resembles a leaf. This is a female (ovipositor under the belly). About 10 cm large. I like the German name which means something like "scary giant leaf".

Red-eyed Tree Frog (Agalychnis callidryas), photographed during a night walk with our Guie Inti Bossa at the Arenal Oasis Lodge in La Fortuna, San Carlos in Costa Rica. February and March are mating season. I liked this picture because it´s reflecting the frogs in the little pond at the falen banana tree.

The picture was taken at the Arenal Oasis lodge La Fortuna, San Carlos Costa Rica during a nightwalk. The way to take pictures at night is to use a flashlight and point (just shortly otherwise most anamals close their eyes) at the subject in order for the flashlight and your DSLR to autofocus. Please remember, we are guests at there territory so do not flash or stay to long. You don´t want them to wear sunglasses, next time you meet, do you.
Be prepared and you they will let you have a pictire of them :-))))))

This bird is 50 cm long and was seen at the Observatory lodge at La Fortuna, San Carlos in Costa Rica: Because it´s tail looks like gold, the Atzteken indians called the beatifull and loud bird: The Golden necklace of Montezuma (the Attzteken King).

Notice the two veins on the frog's back which mimic the veining of the surrounding dried leaves. This frog can come in different colors but has distinguishing green spots on the back.

It is very tiny and makes a quite distinct, loud metallic sound, sits in trees. Taken at night.
