While visiting an open-air market in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, I came across this display of colorful, plastic, water storage containers. With many areas not having indoor plumbing, there is a need for water storage containers--and why not have a little splash of color in your house! No need for post color saturation adjustments here--the Mexican people like bold colors! Below, are two other views, but I thought this one had the most concise and dramatic angle.

Homemade Jellies at State Fair

Homemade jellies on display, with ribbons, at Utah State Fair home canning competition. Some of varieties of jelly on display were peach, mint, plum, pomegranate, pepper, and jalapeno.

Yesterday was my first visit to the state fair in over 15 years. My wife and I went with our son, his wife, and two grandsons to see the pigs, sheep, cattle, rabbits, etc., and all the displays. What a fun experience! This displays of baked goods and home canning was quite extensive, but this group of jars (and a few others, which I'll show later) had just the right back lighting to show the richness and translucent nature of these beautiful homemade preserves!

While traveling through Seattle, I stopped at the famous Pike Place Market, and took this series of open-air produce photos. This is a delightful place to visit or shop. The produce, cut flowers, and fresh fish are top quality.

Formation of Sedimentary Pipes

This shows how many geologists believe that sedimentary pipes were formed (they are also called, 'sand pipes' or sand injectites. This is a display at the Kodachrome Basin State Park, Utah (I took six photos with my iPhone & re-composed this display in Photoshop.) This image may be used under a Creative Commons license -- however, be aware that the original artist / designer may still hold rights, even though this was a public display.
