I have so many awesome mountain Fall images that I am going to have to double up with several in the comment section - I love this one - I have no idea who this photographer is - but I thought it made a nice image. The Beautiful Biltmore House - Asheville, North Carolina !

I took a little field trip over to the Biltmore House - this beautiful mansion is about 30 miles from my home. It was built in 1895 by George Vanderbilt - it has 250 rooms. It is just a breathtaking place to visit - if you are ever in this area of North Carolina make sure you visit here - it is well worth your time. I had a wonderful time just me and my D90 - I took lots of images, so look out more to come.

As we in America remember the terrible tragedy of 9/11 - we pray that nothing like that ever happens again. God's blessings on each and everyone of my Flickr friends - smiles, Nana :) ! ~

I was lucky enough on our vacation to capture several lighthouses. This is my favorite. I also bought a book on lighthouses and the author says that this one ranks as one of the most beautiful and most frequently photograped in the world. We were out in the ocean on a tour when I made this image. Hope all of you are enjoying my vacation images - I couldn't quit shooting it - it was breathtakingly gorgeous. pepstar27 wanted a little history so here goes:

During the ice ages, glaciers as much as a mile thick grated, crushed and bulldozed the rocks of coastal Maine, before sliding off into the Atlantic Ocean. When the glaciers finally melted, about 10,000 years ago, they left behind a much altered landscape. The ice had sculpted ocean channels, penetrating up to 50 miles inland. Seperating the channels were long, narrow fingers of land that pointed toward the open Atlantic, dreating nearly 3,500 extra miles, crammed accordion-like into Maine's 228 miles of coast, and making it almost as extensive as that of California. Maine has 60 lighthouses, far more than any state other than Michigan.
This lighthouse first went into service when George Washington was president. There have been 20 keepers that have manned the light since 1791 until it was automated in 1989. In fact, for a period of nearly 60 years, beginning in 1869, the light was tended by members of a single family by Joshua F. Strout and his son Joseph. Today a modern optic produces the light signal that can be seen from a distance of 24 miles. When the last full-time keeper retired in 1989, the big lens was removed and placed on display at a museum housed in the former station residence.

I just can't get enough of this angel - just a few more - hope all of you have a wonderful TGIF day. I know the balloon has a little movement, I thought about trying to fix it, but it shows she was trying to give it to me - so sweet . Thanks for all your sweet comments - they are all appreciated !
