I often think there is an essence of place, of life lived, stored up the landscapes of historic places. I took a long drive to the largely unpoplulated part of Durham County to see the Antebellum Stagville Plantation. Once the largest plantation in NC and home to hundreds of slaves. Built after the revolution, it saw the armies of the Civil war, all the while lots of living, sweating and dying on the plantation itself. I knew there would be something special about a landscape this old.

The lovely path around Few's Ford from the last roll of Tri-X 320 I shot and processed. It is incredibly hot and humid here so my best hope of shooting is early tomorrow I think.

Also I won a Merit Award in a juried gallery exhibition called SCOPE: The NC Landscape at the VAE Gallery in Raleigh. The show was selected by the Director of Modern Art for the Mint Musuem in Charlotte.

Also new Darkroom space is helping me produce lovely fiber prints.
