A slightly ramshackle hut by the harbour. The rather dishevelled state of the hut added to it's charm.

The timber building over the road was actually a Spanish tapas bar.

I am guessing from its age it wasn't always a tapas bar.

Once I had crossed one of the bridges, I was confronted by this impressive building. It looked like a good place to stay, I was left to think what it was like inside.

The Winter Gardens

A Yarmouth landmark, the Winter Gardens are a large greenhouse type building on the seafront.

Inside was a large bar & other entertainments. Sadly the gardens have been closed for a few years now & the buidling looks a bit scruffy.

Hut By The Harbour Coloured

I agonised yesterday over whether to post a colour version of this hut or a sepia version.

In the end I decided on the sepia version which seemed to go down well (it made Explore!). I was still enjoying this version though, so I thought I would post it to Flickr to see which one people prefered - all feedback welcome.

As well as getting married, there is plenty of shopping to be done in Gretna. There were several buildings housing all kinds of items for sale in them. This is one of those buildings.

Plenty Of Flats

More recently built flats. I have to say I was quite impressed with what I saw of Stratford, it looks like a real effort has been put into developing the area and hopefully that will have a lasting effect once the games are over.

The view from the top of these flats must be quite impressive as they are right next to the Olympic park which is where I went next......

Lots Of Building

The games will mostly take part in Stratford, a rather poor part of London.

Part of the reason London won the Olympics was that they committed to site the games in a run down area & to use them to develop that area. As such there is building going on all over Stratford, not just at the Olympic park itself.

This is one large tower under construction. I believe they are going to be flats for living in. The hope is that once the games are over people will want to move to the improved area.

Near to the mill were these very exclusive looking flats.

I think there may have been some creative types lviving round here as there was also a big TV/ theatre studio nearby.

After the excess of the square mile,I headed off to Bromley by Bow for the main event of the day - a tour of the Olympic site.

You might just have heard that London is the host city of the Olympic games this year. A few months ago I stumbled onto a series Olympic tours being offered in the run up to the games. I booked myself onto one for last weekend.

The tour itself took you round the area near the Olympic park as well as the main site. It began here in Bromley by Bow at this old mill, a scenic building in itself.

As well as having a scenic Bluebell walk, Henham also has a lot of striking old buildings.

These this one looked like an old farmhouse I thought a bit of sepia would add something to it.

On the way were several picturesque houses including this one which I stopped to get a photo of.

Fritton House

After a boat ride round the lake and a walk round the Fritton grounds, I was ready for lunch.

The Fritton House is a pub/restaurant in the grounds of Fritton Lake & I called in here for something to eat & drink. Before I did that though, I made sure to get a photo of it.

A Heron In The Sun

On my first trek along the Square Mile, I got a photo of the new Heron Tower. One of the last shots of the day I got was a second attempt on it. This was the other side of the building & I thought it was a good way to end my Square Mile / Camden adventure.
