Travelling The World For A While

Hey all you Flickr people. I am on the road . I just want to let you know in case you wonder why I am not coming along your stream lately.

As I told you some images before I work with a schoolclass and if they do good work we can qualify for the Robocup 2012 in Mexico which is the worldchampionship in this field of robotics. My pupils did more than well and qualified. So here I have the possibility to travel again and take some nice photos. At least that’s what I hope.
I already have been in Mexico City, San Francisco, Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park and right now I am in Los Angeles. There will be some more stations on my list like Australia, New Zealand, a lot of asian countries and of course my most beloved Japan with the beautiful city TOKYO! (Let’s hope money will provide all of this!)

As I am somehow blessed to travel so much I want to share my experiences with you guys! It might take while since I am able to process my images because I have only taken my netbook with me.

On my netbook I don’t have all my tools and the screen is so small that I cannot see anything as you might see in this image which has a lot of bugs in it.

However I want to let you know how thankful I am to be a part of the Flickr community and for all the impact that it has on my life. I remember joining Flickr 3 years ago without having ever used a DSLR and without knowledge about travelling and Photoshop. Three years later I have discovered so many sweet places and got to know so many nice people. My life might have been completely different without each of you.

My way to say thanks will be a lot of cool images and some crazy stories. You’ll see when I am able to start posting some of my new captured treasures.

Thanks for being friends and for every single view, fave, comment, private message, share, critizism and everything you do for me!

It is March. For me it is kind of the beginning of spring! Best time to post an autumn photo :). Sometimes I wonder why I always post my photos in the completely different time of the year…

However. This photo was taken in summer. I used Photoshop technique to give the autumn touch. Some might think it is crazy but as I post processed the photo I really felt the autumn mood and the earthly tones. The whole scene reminds me on the Lord of the Rings scene where Merry and Pippin take the tree ride as they are persecuted by the ugly ORK!

The photo was taken at a lonely road somewhere in Kyoto, Japan. I really stood in awe of this Monumentum. Let’s just think for a second I am 26 years old, you might be younger or older but how old might this tree be? 50 years? Naahhh more 200-500 years I would guess.

This somehow leads me to an important question which I wan’t to mention but not give any more thoughts on. How can it be that we, the western world, support cutting down these old trees all over the world for nearly no money only to get new furniture every other year. We don’t know how the world will be without these natural air cleaners…

Just a thought!

Anyways I think there are some really smart people who discuss on these topics.

By the way: If you think you need the new Nikon D800/ D800E/ D4 look at the photo and know it has been taken with and old Canon 350D with the 18-55 kit lens... :D
