The Pine Siskin is only a winter visitor to Arkansas, but they are very sociable birds and don't mind me getting pretty close. This image is un-cropped and the only editing that has taken place is my slight adjustment of tones.

A photo of a teeny Female Downy Woodpecker. These little ones are only 6 inches from head to tail and are really timid. The males have a small red patch on the back of their heads. She is one of several I have seen in the garden since moving to Arkansas

This little White-Breasted Nuthatch was still as a statue on the oak tree in my back garden.

After sitting like that for a good 2 or 3 minutes he suddenly flew off to the other side of the garden.

I love these little guys. Back in the UK, seeing a Nuthatch was quite rare. Here in Arkansas my back garden is full of them!

Saw this little guy sitting on the washing line. He seems happy to let me photograph him. eventually he got bored and flew over to hover about 18 inches in front of my face before heading up into the fig tree in the garden

Beautiful Autumn/Fall colours at War Eagle, Arkansas.
I am entranced by the beauty of the Hobbs National Park and indeed NW Arkansas

I am linking this photo to 'The Gallery' for this weeks post on Autumn. I think this depicts the colour of Autumn perfectly, and I still find it hard to believe that in a few short weeks we will be living in this gorgeous place!

Another stunning colour display, looking out over Beaver Lake. I took so many photographs I cannot remember exactly where on the lake this was taken, all I know is that it was the south side, and it was beautiful

In a few short weeks time, this will be 'the view' front the front of our new home on Beaver Lake just outside Rogers, Arkansas.

Can you see why we are excited? I am told that it will be even more stunning once the trees have all lost their leaves, and I wonder how can something so totally beautiful get even better?

We flew out to Rogers to house hunt in preparation for our impending move from SoCal. The beauty of the NW Arkansas countryside, quite simply took our breath away, and gave us all a sense of 'home'

Taken at LAX at around 6am, so literally just before dawn. We were waiting for our flight Atlanta when I took this.
My husband thought it looked kind of cool with the reflection from inside the airport, so this is SOOC

This little guy has been busily gathering nuts etc in preparation for hibernation, and as luck would have it I finally managed to capture him today, and use this image for the DPS challenge

Chinese Wheel

We have 2 of these old Chinese Wheels. As you can see I have put one of hem out in the front yard, just leaning against a big old oak tree. I had never really appreciated just how lovely they are until people started asking me where they were from because they wanted to get one. I feel quite sad when I tell them how old they are and just where they came from - but it has let me see them in a totally new and more appreciative light.
