This photo of a northern shrike, a relatively rare bird in northern Pennsylvania, was taken in March 2009 at a local marsh known as the Muck. It was taken with a Nikon Coolpix P5100 through a Nikon Fieldscope.

Common Murre

This bruised and battered common murre ended up on the beach in Lincoln City Oregon after very stormy weather on 21 July 2007. It is not clear whether it was exhausted fighting the high waves and strong winds or was sick. Photograph was taken with a Canon S3IS.
